We left early Sat. for one of my favorite small towns in Kansas - Winfield. It brings back great memories of visiting my grandparents and my aunt & uncle's farm every time I'm there. So, it was a thrill for Brett and I to meet Ruth at the First Presbyterian Church in Winfield where she and the other bridesmaids were getting their hair and make-up done. Once the girls were ready they slipped into their sleeveless empire waist cinnamon colored dresses. Ruth's dress was simply elegant - strapless with cascading beading on the bodice. Ruth accented her gown with pearl earrings given to her by her parents and matching pearl drop necklace given to her by Michael.

Ruth & Michael had decided to see each other before the ceremony so we could spend more time with them and get some great outdoor fall foliage pics. Even though Michael had practiced his surprise look for when he saw Ruth for the first time, I believe she actually took his breath away making him forget his practiced look. Ruth was obviously as impressed with how great Michael looked in his brown tux with cinnamon colored vest and striped tie as she was all smiles when she saw him for the first time. Despite the unusually warm weather, Ruth & Michael couldn't have been luckier than to have such a beautiful day for their wedding and still have vibrant leaves on the trees near the church.

During the ceremony, one of Michael's groomsman, Dave, played his guitar and sang the perfect wedding song - First Day of my Life. As lovely as the ceremony was, when Michael's sister, Rebecca, played the harp as the couple lit the unity candle, it was obvious that the title of the song - The Luckiest - was exactly how Ruth and Michael felt at that moment.

After the ceremony, the couple exited the church to a wall of bubbles as they made their way to the trolley. Michael wanted to take a few pics in front of his favorite hamburger joint before heading to the reception at the Holy Name Parish Hall. The reception hall was decorated in fall colored floral and candle arrangements as centerpieces on the table. The grooms cake was in the shape of an X-Box with matching controller and included Michael's gamer number on the back. It was one of the best grooms cakes we've seen.

Ruth & Michael, Thank you so much for making our job so much fun and allowing us to capture your special day. Our wish for you is the same as the Willow Tree figurine - Promise - that you had on your cake table, we pray you always remember the promise you made to each other on this day! And the way you felt when you saw each other for the first time on your wedding day!

Thanks again,
Brett, Cheryl & Alex

Emily & Andrew

It was a perfect fall day when we met up with Emily and the girls at Christ the King Catholic Church to get a few shots as they were getting ready. Emily was excited and anxious as her sisters curled her hair and helped her with her make-up.

Emily wore a beautiful ivory strapless gown with a champaign colored twist at the waist that flowed into her chapel length train. Emily borrowed her tiara from her sister, Molly, and wore pearls that her parents had specially made for her. Her garter was camaflouge with an Air Force seal in the middle. The bridesmaids wore gorgeous persimmon colored strapless dresses with ruching at the bodices and matching heels. The bridesmaids also wore pearl drop necklaces and earrings that were specially made for each of them. In addition to the bridesmaids, Emily had six of her Air Force Acadamy classmates, in their dress blues, as sabre bearers/honor guard. Emily carried a round bouquet of fall colored calla lilies wrapped in her grandmothers handkerchief and the bridesmaids carried long stemmed calla lilies.

As Emily and the girls were getting ready, the very talented Kelly & Sarah from Artfully Blended were busy transforming the school gym into a fall inspired dance hall. With hay bales, tree branches, pumpkins, gourds and fall colored candles it looked great and the best part was Emily, her family and friends were able to enjoy the day instead of worrying about decorating.

The ceremony was officiated by Fr. Allen and was a traditional Catholic wedding with Emily's friend, Dawn, as cantor. Fr. Allen asked all the guests to say a little prayer for the couple whenever they think of them. So, as you're reading this, say a little - God bless Andy & Emily - prayer as they start their new life together.

After the wedding, we were able to head outside and get some great fall foliage pics of the couple and wedding party in front of the church. And later with Andy and his fraternity brothers and Emily and her GRBD friends to get some fun shots of the couple with their friends - who had traveled a long way to celebrate their day with them. The party began with a video greeting from Emily's sister Monica and her husband Billy who were unable to travel as they waited the birth of their quadruplets. Everyone had a great time at the reception and Emily's dad touched everyone when he asked them to all say a prayer for the troops - especially those in the Air Force.

Emily & Andy made special CD's for their party favors with their favorite songs that remind them of each other. They attached a sheet of - he said / she said - explaining why they chose the songs they did. It is obvious by the choices they made, that they are so much in love. As Andy said, he can't remember what his life was like before Emily; and as Emily said as she quoted Sarah Evans, she's found all she's waited for and could not ask for more. Emily & Andy, we were so honored to be a part of your day - thank you so much for choosing us to capture this day for you guys! We know you'll have a great time in Key West before you head back to Germany! May God Bless you both in all your adventures!

p.s. Congratulations to Monica & Billy on the birth of their four precious babies just a few weeks after the wedding. We're praying that you're able to bring them home soon.

Thanks again,
Brett & Cheryl
