Garrett & Lauren

Even though the day started off a little rocky with a major mix up by the hair salon, the day turned out to be all Lauren & Garrett had hoped and dreamed it would be. Since they've been friends for so many years and even dated back in high school, they were both confident that they're meant to be together.

Lauren wore a beautiful strapless gown with lace bodice and Dupioni silk full skirt. There was a silk ribbon and bow at the waist but, the finishing touches were family heirlooms including a handkerchief and cross pendant attached to Lauren's lucky pearls. Both the handkerchief and cross were her grandmother's and had been worn by Lauren's grandmother and mother at their weddings.

As the guys played video games and dressed at Lauren & Garrett's new home, the girls got ready at the church, Eastminister Presbyterian Church. The girls wore black strapless dresses with thin hot pink ribbons tied in a bow at the waist to match Lauren's dress. They carried stargazer lily and bright pink rose bouquets that were slightly smaller than Lauren's. The men wore traditional black tuxes with hot pink ties, except for Garrett who wore a black vest and tie and Garrett's nephew, Parker, the ring bearer, who wore a tux with tails and a hot pink tie.

Lauren's mom did an outstanding job on the rest of the flowers at the church and the reception. As you entered the church, there were two tall vases on the guest book tables at each end of the foyer filled with stargazer lilies, roses and baby's breath. The round tables held message note cards for guest to sign instead of the traditional guest book which Lauren plans to put in their wedding scrapbook. In the sanctuary, there were bright pink bows and lilies attached to each of the candle holders going down the main aisle, and on the three large candelabra's at the front of the church.

As the church bells rang, the wedding started with Lauren's friend, Evan, singing "I do". As the couple lit the unity candle, Evan and Lauren's sister, Lynn, sang another terrific song, "When I say I do". After the wedding, the couple exited the church through the bubbles to the waiting trolley. Brett rode on the trolley with the couple and wedding party. On the way to the reception at Terradyne Country Club, they stopped at the Waterfront for a few pics by the lake.

The highlights at the reception were Lynn's top 10 toast to the couple and the couple's first dance. Lauren wrote a poem to Garrett, which Lauren's brother, Paul, put to music and sang. We hope to get a copy to put on the blog for everyone to hear. It was so sweet and incredibly touching knowing Lauren had written it for Garrett. Lauren may have a future career as a songwriter if she gets tired of teaching fourth graders! We sure Garrett and Lauren wont mind us taking a minute to plug one of Garrett's groomsmen's, Andy's, web page. Andy is a fellow photographer as well as a fireman, Garrett & Lauren have one of his landscape photos above their fireplace. To check out his fire and landscape pics go to www.andythomasphotos.com.

Lauren & Garrett, thank you to both you and your families for letting us be part of your special day. Our wish for you two is continue to "I will, I am, I can, I have & I do"!

Scott & Victoria

Our red wedding weekend ended with Scott & Victoria's wedding at Central Community Church's chapel. After Kirk & Christi's beautiful red wedding on Friday night, we were surprised to find Scott & Victoria's color was red as well. And even though they had the same color, they were both uniquely theirs and both lovely.

Victoria and her bridesmaids started the day getting their hair done at JC Penney's and make-up done at the Clinique counter at Dillard's. The ladies slipped into their dresses at the church. The bridesmaids wore red floor length gowns, red shoes and carried red rose and stargazer lily bouquets. Victoria's gown was one of the most beautiful gowns we've ever had the privilege to photograph. It was ivory with champaign colored trim and a cathedral length detachable train. The train had cutouts with lace and sequin. When the train was removed, the gown had a small layered tulle train with sequin that bustled for the reception. Victoria looked so elegant, it was no wonder Scott couldn't help but smile when he looked at his beautiful bride.

Instead of the traditional guestbook, the couple had a red satin covered signature mat with Chinese good luck wishes. During the wedding, a friend of Victoria's played the violin as the couple lit the unity candle. On the alter on each side of the unity candle, were two candles in honor of Scott's dad and Victoria's brother.

The reception was at Tallgrass County Club. As the guests were finding their name tags which were assigned to specific Chinese placards placed on each table, we were able to get some terrific shots of the couple on the golf course. As soon as the couple entered the reception, they had their first dance, which was an elegant waltz. Scott and Victoria actually met at a dance and both love ballroom dancing. Victoria gets that from her parents who are both wonderful dancers, as were many of the wedding guests.

Scott and Victoria, thank you so much for letting us be part of your day. Our wish for the two of you is one we heard is a Chinese good luck wish used mostly at weddings, Double Happiness! Have a great time on your Honeymoon in California and China!

Kirk & Christi

Christi's best friend and bridesmaid, Jana, is a stylist at Eric Fisher Salon (east location) and did Christi's hair is an elaborate up-do that looked stunning. The amazing team at Eric Fisher did a fantastic job on the six bridesmaids (including Christi's two sisters), Christi's niece, Paige, the flower girl, and Christ's mom. As the girls were getting their hair & make-up done, the guys were hanging out at one of the groomsmen's (Mike's) home, playing pool, darts, etc. and having a great time relaxing before they had to start getting ready.

Christi wore a stunning strapless gown from Reni's bridal, with gathered full skirt and chapel length train. Her veil was simple but, cathedral length and extended past the train of her gown. She wore killer heels with a rhinestone beaded strap around the ankle that tied with a ribbon in the back. The final touch to her look was a pair of crystal chandelier earrings that added just the right amount of glam to go with her dress. She looked like a princess according to Paige, and I think everyone agreed. The bridesmaids wore strapless cranberry red dresses with matching shawls and carried smaller versions of Christi's fall colored bouquets of calla lilies and roses created by the Flower Factory.

When Christi's son, Tyler, finally got to see his mom in her beautiful gown, he was so enthralled with how beautiful she looked. He kept touching her dress, veil, holding her hand or just trying to be close to her. It was obvious how proud he was to have her for his mom. When Christi told him how much she loved him, he replied, "I love you more!", her reply was the same as any mom's would be, that she didn't think that was possible. It was a very touching moment that we were honored to witness.

After the wedding, the guests waited on the front steps of St. Mary's Cathedral for the couple to exit and cheered them on as they boarded the trolley. The wedding party joined the couple on the trolley and we followed them to Riverside Park for a few shots before heading to the Scottish Rite temple for the reception.

The reception site was beautifully decorated with tall vases of white calla lilies as centerpieces, except for the head table (placed in the center of the main hall) which was decorated with large topiaries of flowers matching the ladies bouquets. The wedding party and couple were introduced, entering down the grand staircase. Dinner by Corporate Caterers was delicious as always and served buffet style.

The dance started with a terrific band, called the Stars, from OKC, playing hits that kept everyone dancing. As good as the band was, the chocolate fountain was the biggest hit, at least with the kids.

Kirk & Christi, it was such an honor to be part of your day. Thank you for choosing us to document your day for you. We wish you many more joyous days together!

Jason & Kelley

After a relaxing breakfast at the Hyatt, Kelley, her mom, bridesmaids and flower girls met at Planet Hair to get their hair & make-up done. The flower girls were so excited to show off their polished nails and run-way walks for everyone once they were finished. Kelley looked stunning after finally deciding on the perfect color of lipstick (she tried five different shades).

Kelley looked so elegant in her strapless chiffon gown that her cute pair of tennis shoes (instead of heels) was a complete surprise. Her bouquet of white calla lilies was done by Susan's Flowers and was wrapped with a white ribbon from her mother's wedding dress and pinned with her grandmother's turquoise brooch (for her something blue).

The bridesmaid's wore strapless little black dresses with green ribbon ties at the waist. But, it was the flower girls who stole the show...all four girls wore different white dresses with large green sashes tied in a bow at the back. They were so adorable; you couldn't help but go "aahhh" when they walked down the aisle together.

Jason & Kelly's happiness was so evident from the ceaseless smiles and laughter, not to mention the fact that they skipped down the long aisle at East Heights United Methodist Church, giddy with joy after being pronounced husband and wife.
During the ceremony, Kelley's brother played the piano when the couple lit the unity candle. After the wedding, the couple exited the church to a million bubbles. The wedding party joined them in the limo and we headed to Old Town for a few photo opportunities before heading back to the Hyatt for the reception.

The guests were treated to a coffee bar while waiting for the couple to arrive. During dinner, a slide show of the couple kept everyone laughing and some crying. The couple opted for cup cakes topped with engraved hearts, instead of the traditional wedding cake for dessert. During the dance, the crowd was entertained by Scott from Complete Music. He was definitely a hit with the kids!

Kelley & Jason, we wish you the best of luck with your campus ministry. As Jason's brother said during his toast, it's obvious it was God's plan for you two to be together.
Thanks again for letting us be part of your day!

Rob & Jill Heggen

Jill & Rob's wedding couldn't have been more perfect for the two of them. The beautiful Oakdale Park Formal Garden in Salina, Kansas was a lovely background for their "I do's". There were so many personal touches that helped make it uniquely theirs, including their handwritten wedding vows that included a little humor.

As Jill, escorted by her dad, walked down the long petal strewn aisle, it was the first time Rob had seen his beautiful bride that day. Jill had her hair in an up-do that accentuated her graceful features and wore an elegant strapless form fitted gown with a lace overlay that buttoned down the back with crystal buttons and a chocolate brown sash tied in a bow at her waist. She looked so classic (like Grace Kelly or Sarah Jessica Parker) that it was worth all the effort Jill, her mom & sisters went through to find the perfect dress. Instead of a veil, Jill wore a crystal and pearl hair pin that added the perfect touch to her look. Jill's bouquet was made of beautiful green tipped yellow roses. The bridesmaids wore chocolate brown spaghetti strapped dresses with a gathered bodice and gold heels. The two flower girls wore yellow dresses with chocolate brown sashes to match Jill. Rob and his mates, were very dashing in their tan suits and white shirts.

As guests arrived at the wedding site, they received the program which was designed in light green, cream and brown layers to create a fan to help keep them cool. With the normally strong Kansas winds, the couple opted to create a unity water instead of having a unity candle. Both Jill & Rob's moms placed a vase of colored water at the front of the gazebo, one yellow and one blue. When the couple poured them together, it became their favorite color, green.

They carried the green theme over to the reception at the Holiday Inn with vases of green apples tied with a chocolate ribbon as centerpieces. The couple was very touched by all the friends and family who traveled to share their day with them. Especially, the groom's parents, brother and two groomsmen, who traveled all the way from Australia. The reception went off without a hitch. The most touching moment was when Jill's sisters surprised the couple during the toasts by singing Rascal Flats "My Wish" to the couple.

Thanks again to Rob, Jill, your parents, siblings and friends for being such a blast to work with. To the girls, for letting us hang out with them all day, and to the guys for being so stoked about the photos. Also, thank you to Jill's wedding coordinator, Terry, for helping make the day run so smoothly and for keeping us hydrated in the Kansas heat and humidity. Rob & Jill, have a great time in Antigua - We had a great time sharing your day with you.

William and Tracie

Sept. 1, 2007

On a warm, sunny, beautiful September day, Tracie & William vowed their love and commitment to each other in front of their family and friends at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church

Tracie, her two sisters and four best friends started the day at First Salon to get their hair done and then to Tracie's parents home to put on the finishing touches and slip into their black dresses with pink sashes. When the bridesmaids were finally ready, they helped Tracie get into her beautiful gown with layered train. Then it was outside for pictures before the Trolley came to take them to the church. On the way, the girls sang to Tracie "We're going to Chapel, and we're going to get married..."

Tracie & Will met in 7th grade and after dating for the last 5 years, they were finally able to say the emotion filled "I do's". After the wedding, the couple and wedding party rode the Trolley to the Airport Hilton for the fun filled reception (after a quick stop at the Sedgwick County Park for a few pics where the newlyweds were able to get a few quite moments together for the first time that day).

As the guests entered the reception hall, there was a bottle of wine for them to sign in lieu of the guestbook. The couple plans on saving the wine for their first anniversary. The couple was finally able to relax and enjoy visiting with their guests before dinner was served.

After a slide show of the couple growing up and then dating, created by Will's father, the guests dined on steak and chicken. Once the bouquet & garter were tossed, the couple had their first dance, the bride danced with her father, and Will danced with his mom. As Will danced with him Mom, his brother told me how much his Mom has been through and with the loss of their brother a few years ago, how much this dance meant not only to Will and their Mom, but their whole family. It was hard to hold back the tears as I tried to capture the moment.

It was such an honor for us to be part of Tracie & Will's special day. Thank you so much Tracie & Will and to both of your families for being so welcoming to us. If I could speak Portuguese, I would quote your sister's toast. So instead, I will just wish you both a very long and happy life together.
